Overview
|
|
For 2008 Sawbridgeworth Budgens will be supporting 6 local schools to help them
raise money for their own projects. Details of how this will be done are laid
out on this page in summary and in more detail on the other pages in this
section. Our target is to raise a total of �6,000 over the year.

Environment
|
|
Independently run Sawbridgeworth Budgens is already proud of its environmental
credentials with its support of local suppliers and produce, food miles,
recycling and environmentally friendly packaging initiatives. The Schools
Initiative also focuses on the environment with genuine incentives to reduce
plastic bag use and promote reusable ecobags.

The Campaign
|

Ecobags
- Sawbridgeworth Budgens will donate the profits from the sale of school logo
branded 'ecobags'. Also help us by reusing plastic bags. We know how much we
spent on plastic bags for 2007. At the end of 2008 we will work out how much we
have saved on plastic bag usage and add that amount to the fund.

Raffles etc
- You may have already seen the Xmas Hamper Raffle in the news section or even
bought tickets (many thanks to you). This sort of one-off fund raising activity
will be taking at regular intervals over the year, especially to coincide with
British Food Fortnight, National Independents Week and public holidays.

In store space
- Each of the schools will have a 'pitch' (some shelf space set aside) for two
months in our store in which they can sell their own products (mugs, caps, tea
towels etc). Some of their products will be showcased on this site.

Sponsorship - We hope to team up each school with a sponsor -
one of our Sawbridgeworth Budgens suppliers. These sponsors will not only
contribute to the overall fund but be able to assist that school in other ways
too.
