| Friends of Hailey Day Centre |
 |
Independently run Budgens recognises the importance of
supporting the community which it serves. This means not only supporting local
suppliers by stocking a wide range of local products and supporting consumers
by offering locally produced, quality produce but reaching out in other ways to
help and improve the local community. As the main supermarket in
Sawbridgeworth, Budgens recognises the central position it holds in the daily
life of many Sawbridgeworth residents and the responsibility that goes with
that position - beyond simply the provision of groceries. The Budgens in store
team have chosen to support the charities of the Mayor of Sawbridgeworth. One
example being the Hailey Day Centre which is supported by the 'Friends of
Hailey Day Centre' charity (reg charity no. 1030820).
The objectives of the 'Friends of Hailey Day Centre' read as follows:
"For the relief of the elderly and in particular to support the hailey day
centre for use by the elderly of the parish of sawbridgeworth without
distinction of political religious or other opinion with the object of
improving the conditions of life for the said citizens".
The charity, established in 1993, offers activities ranging from a simple
coffee and chat in the morning to bingo and whist through to regular fully
fledged outings. About 10 outings are organised each year, are usually limited
to the capacity of the coach and are fully subscribed. Such outings account for
a large portion of the centre's income.
The Hailey Day Centre enriches the lives of all who make use of it and is an
asset to the town of Sawbridgeworth. Budgens will be holding fund raising
events during the year and making time to allow staff the chance to work in the
centre once a month. |
